Passionately pursuing excellence

Concert Bands

Concert band is the core of the Edmond North Band Program and the foundation upon which all other band activities are built. Students prepare wind band literature of the highest caliber in one of three concert bands each year from November to May. The concert ensembles perform numerous concerts and compete in OSSAA and festival events throughout Oklahoma and the United States each concert season.

Freshman band students are eligible for placement in the 8th/9th Grade CODA Honor Band. Sophomore, Junior, and Senior band students are eligible for one of two CODA Bands--Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. All students are encouraged to perform a memorized solo and/or participate in a small ensemble as part of their comprehensive musical experience. Solos and ensembles are mainly student-led, with coaching from directors and private instructors. Most woodwind and brass solos require a piano accompaniment, and the students are responsible for making their own arrangements with an accompanist. Participation in the OSSAA Solo and Ensemble Contest is a requirement for lettering in band.
